In a story due to come out Dec. 7, Michael Glynn of the National Enquirer reports that Tiger Woods has been involved in a rather lengthy affair with a former television producer and New York nightclub hostess named Rachel Uchitel. The sad part of it is that this story actually seems solid; begging the question, what are you thinking, Tiger?
Glynn reports that Woods has met up with Uchitel in Las Vegas, New York and Melbourne, Australia; the latter location where she was seen checking into the same hotel as Woods, who was there for the Australian Masters. Uchitel claimed that she was just there on business.
Woods has two children with wife Elin Nordegren (pictured), a former Swedish model who has been married to Woods since 2004. The two appeared at Stanford this past Saturday for the Big Game with visiting Cal, where Woods celebrated his induction into the Stanford Sports Hall of Fame with a halftime ceremony in his honor.
The Enquirer describes Uchitel as a "New York party girl" who has been linked to other married celebrities in the past, among them TV actor David Boreanaz (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, anyone?). Uchitel has also had her share of tragedy. Her fiance, James O'Grady, was killed during the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks.
From the Enquirer story on Woods-Uchitel:
The two first met at a "New York club" last May and in June Uchitel told friend Ashley Samson, "Tiger Woods is blowing up my cell phone with messages!"
The Enquirer eventually tracked Uchitel to Woods' hotel in Melbourne where a reporter for the publication confronted her about the relationship.
Glynn also reports that Uchitel admitted "she had met Tiger on two different occasions."
The Enquirer reports an attorney for Woods, who is unnamed in the story, "vehemently denied an affair" but added that "the golfer may have been at the same nightclub as Rachel at some point."
Perhaps Cal fans knew about this when they booed Tiger on Saturday? (More likely it was the Stanford sweatshirt, I'd say).
