We've heard this before so don't get too excited, but Tiger Woods could be back on the links within weeks. TMZ is reporting that Tiger is planning to return to competition at a tourney in his own backyard; the Tavistock Cup in Orlando clubs on March 22-23. Citing a source "who works for the Woods family," TMZ.com says Woods will use the tournament as a tuneup for the Masters. Last week, the Melbourne Herald Sun reported that Woods was set to make his return at the WGC-Accenture World Match Play Championship on Feb. 17 in Marana, Arizona. But that notion was quickly shot down by Woods' caddy Steve Williams, who said that those reports "had no truth."
Of course that's the same Williams who said that he had no idea that Woods was being unfaithful to his wife.
From the Orlando Sentinel:
Isleworth's annual showdown against Lake Nona is a semi-private affair, where only a few hundred spectators are invited to walk the fairways with 20 top PGA Tour, LPGA and European Tour pros. Golf Channel televises the event.
Woods spokesman Glenn Greenspan offered no comment on the report when contacted Monday by the Sentinel. Andy Odenbach, Tavistock Cup tournament director, did not respond to calls or e-mails seeking corroboration.
According to the TMZ report, Woods will use the team event as his lone competitive warmup before seeking a fifth Masters title in April.
Meanwhile, Zeta Interactive, a New York digital marketing agency, is showing that for the first time since the Thanksgiving night SUV accident that kicked off the whole saga, Woods' favorable ratings on the Internet are beginning to climb slightly. Meanwhile, those of his wife, Elin Nordegren, are slipping.
As of Feb. 4, Woods had a 62 percent negative rating (38 percent positive). That's an improvement from 69 percent negative, 31 percent positive on Jan. 31. Nordegren's numbers were 77 percent positive, 23 percent negative on Feb. 4, dropping 11 points from Jan. 31.

Report: Tiger Woods' return to golf likely to come at Orlando's Tavistock Cup [Orlando Sentinel]
Tiger Woods -- Plotting Return to Golf [TMZ]

It has to happen. You have to face yourself, and start your golf again. Good Luck Tiger to your body and your mind. It is all part of growing up. You have two children to teach about life, help them now; you are everything to them, and I am sure you never want an incident to happen, so teach them right and wrong right from the beginning. You are still a very young man at 33? You can make the necessary changes; come on TIGER, show me what you got!!!!!!
I shall be there with my Mistress Collection golf balls and Rachel Uchitel beer caddy.
I hope when he returns, an honest interview is given explaining:
1.) What happened, the mistakes he made, just the facts, etc.
2.) He shows full remorse to everyone in the world and ask for our forgiveness and prayers for him and his family.
Many young kids who play golf, just watch the game and most adults are willing to forgive and forget only if he comes clean. If he still has that "cocky" attitude, forget it, most all the people in the world will "root" against him.
Regarless of how many tournaments he wins, he will never have a place in golf history like Nicklaus, Plamer, Jones, Hogan. There will always be a "? or *" by his name, as he has disgraced the integrity of the game.
A question mark Tiger did not degrace the game if it was not for Tiger the game would not have the fame it has. Do not mix personal with business Tiger has neve been drunk on the Golf course never spitted in a cup never threw his clubs in the water. As I can recall the First time he one the master's a racial slur was made.Compare the impact that he has made on the game world wide
A question mark Josephi I smell fear
one thing for sure....if the tour had to continue without Tiger, and the on-course personalities were guys like Furyk, Johnson, etc..., golf would be off the major airwaves in a few years. Like him or hate him, everyone watches him....
Reply to Josephi.
I see you have a sort of biblical name I suppose you feel like you have the power to absolve folks of their short comings. All they have to do is bare their souls to you and all the other self righteous folks out there. Tiger just needs to let you in on all of his private affairs so you and the others can get some more stuff to gossip about and provide yourselves with some more Tiger entertainment. Well let me explain something to you. Tiger does not have to answer to you or any other of the self righteous and angelic folks out there. He owes you nothing, zero. So get on with your own life and leave other peoples business alone. Tiger come back and rip on the course like you always have, hold no interviews with the press and the Johnny Millers of the world. When the tournament is done go back home to your lovely wife and family. I am sure Josephi and the angelic ones will be totally pissed off as you will have failed to live up to their perfect examples and take heed of their heavenly advice. Go get a life......
Josephi just because you said it does not make it so. Tiger has accomplished far more than the Nicklauses of this world. What have you accomplished? Please let us know. Bare your soul to us. You now have the opportunity to do so. People like you will never be able to diminish the accomplishments of the great Tiger Woods no matter how you try. I know exactly the place where you and the rest of folks like you are coming from. Tiger continue to let your clubs do the talking. They cant take away your God given talent.
LOL! You're so far out of touch, it's ridiculous.
To Johnny Miller: Tiger never disgrace the game of golf. This is a personal matter not a golf matter. Tiger Woods never spit in a flag cup. He is not the only one that throw his clubs and swear.
Mr. Miller if you never sinned....you are a jealous man because you were never able to accomplish what Tiger did. He is only 34 and do you remember in your book I call the shots....you call them wrong Sir. He already has 14 majors and over 70 wins. Get a grip....Tom Watson was a drunk, Mickelson is a gambler. They all have their skeleton in their closets and I am sure Johnny Miller you have yours too.
WOW... pretty good there Flash as you judge and condemn Josephi for his judging and condemning Tiger based on what? His name??? That's funny!!! Can you spell H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-S-Y??? (Have you got an axe to grind there or what??!!!) Talk about needing to "get a life..."
Anyway, you're right though, Tiger owes no one anything. But if he expects to rake in millions of sponsors' endorsements dollars, THEY expect him to come forward and do damage control via openness and reform. If not, then he has to live with the millions he already has and not expect any more gifts for just being Tiger.
Tiger IS the most gifted golfer on the planet, but winning tournaments is peanuts compared to endorsements. He wants Nicklaus' record for sure, but he also wants the green too.
And no one honestly can really say this hasn't hurt golf either. Trying to drum up interest by touting Phil and his new coach has still left the golf community dry. Steve Stricker may be playing great golf, but TV ratings are still at an all time low and will be until the man returns. But it remains to be seen if they will continue to come back in droves after his first round or two.
Josephi,
How do you feel this man owes YOU an answer? He owes his wife and God an answer. PERIOD!
Why he missed the birdie on the 18th hole is something for the media. What channel he watches on TV in his home, or in this case, who he is sleeping with, is not!
To O. St. Pierre - buy a dictionary, are you litterate?
Litterate? Who should be buying the dictionary!? Is that when a cat learns to use the litter, he is now litterate. :D
and josephi...tiger has done nothing to give him a "*" on his golf records. Or even a "?" Yes, he is a cheater, just not on the golf course.
Why are you so hard on a person. Have you never done a wrong in your life? Give the man a break and let his personnal life be his problem. He does not owe anybody but his family an apology.
Sorry Sir.....had only a few seconds to write the email and had no time to check it out.
The true beauty of reading each of your comments suggest that we all seem to be pulling for Tiger, we just have a different perception on how Mr. Woods should be perceived and in some cases received on his return. The truth of the matter is that a true champion no matter how many times he falls he gets back up but the mark of a man of character, is that he ask for forgiveness and regardless what others think move on with his life for the better. Let us see the Man in Mr. Woods and not try to analyze but support him and his family.. Best to you Tiger.
Golf will return when Tiger does.
Watson and Miller are like watching paint dry
People like Josephi should be ashamed of themselves. Tiger owes us nothing in the form of an explanation for his transgressions. He hurt his wife and children but in the case of his fans and sponsors, he disappointed them. There is a big difference between hurt and disappointment. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. The Johnny Millers of this world are pure hypocrites and in the case of Johnny, he's never liked Tiger and makes no bones about it and as far as I am concerned it's pure jealousy. He has the bully's pulpit and can say whatever he wants on the air as an analyst. He should restrict his comments to the game and so should you. To say that Tiger hurt the integrity of the game is just being not true. Pray, in what way? Did he ever cheat, spit in the cup, kicked the flag, etc. As a previous poster said, Phil likes to gamble and yet many of us root for him when he is out there competing. I have not heard anyone say that he has hurt the integrity of the game. Heck, Michael Jordan liked to chomp on the cigar and gamble too but I don't hear anyone say that he hurt basketball while he was playing.
It's a sad commentary on who we are as people when we feel the need to kick somebody while they're down rather than helping them back on their feet. We should be rooting for Tiger to come back so that PGA tour members don't feel that an asterix will be put against their win just because they didn't compete against Tiger and won in a tournament that he will otherwise be playing. Phil is looking forward to Tiger coming back to resume their rivalry afterall he bested Tiger the last couple of times they were in the same tournament. Real competitors welcome challenge and I think that the rest of us should step aside and allow that to happen instead of making comments that will make Tiger continue postponing when he has to face the realities of being a celebrity.
...make us proud..take care of the important things like you family first.... when you are ready to return to golf we will be there for your support....golf is getting boring on t.v.....
When a person makes an effort to take control of his life and correct the path he followed... who are we to condemn. I applaud his efforts to improve his role as husband and father. Remember Tiger, after a storm, God usually has a rainbow up his sleeve.
I wish you well.

I think you are forgetting one big fact. The Corporate World courted Tiger because they wanted to ride the "Tiger Wave" and capitalize on his abundant talent. Tiger did not go after these folks. So they got blindsided by his extra marital affairs and pulled their endorsements. So what, they will be coming back in droves when he resumes pummelling the field again. Donald Trump said it best "Tiger will be hotter than ever when he returns". I have a question for you. Why are you so worried about how much money Tiger is losing or will lose in the future? How does that affect your life? Did Tiger complain to you? Please....
Will RACE please spell check my post.
stop judging him let him and family live. let golf come back to life and let him talk to god about it and those women are just and more to blame. they knew he was married, rich and just a plain man, please women their is a word NO
A) it's just golf, a game for most of us, nothing more. And the game will go on regardless of personal trauma by one or a dozen professionals we do not know personally.
B) live by your own fair rules and high morals, and let that be the precedent for others to follow. don't follow leaders, watch the parkin' meters.
C) history is littered with demolished reputations and mea culpas... why is anyone surprised by the latest iteration. Next week/month it'll be someone else off their perch, i guarantee it.
D) leave the apologies for others to make to their own family and Gods. Woods owes "us" nothing. It's a bizarre twist on perception for sure, but it's his problem, not yours or mine - stop taking ownership of it.
E) Wood is still the best golfer out there today, but Nicklaus will now forever be the Best There Ever Was. That's one record Woods will not be able to take away. Tough lesson there.
Mainly I agree with you except on the "forgiveness" part. If Tiger was a public servant and he did something that reflected badly on his character or honesty then a public apology would be warranted. If Tiger cheated at golf and wanted to continue playing in the PGA then a public apology would be warranted. Tiger messed up on the homefront and only Elin is due an apology. Sponsors invested in the Tiger image which extends far beyond the golf course. The further you get from the source of his fame, the greater the risk and the risk is borne by the sponsors. If Tiger wants them back then he owes them an apology. Anyone like Tiger who already has a BILLION DOLLARS doesn't NEED the money anymore so I think that if anyone wants to continue watching this great GOLFER in the future, you will shut up and leave the private side of Tiger alone...that side of Tiger doesn't belong to you. If the idiots prevail, he just might pack up his clubs and walk away from the game. Betting that he won't is a stupid risk. Let's face the facts...no Tiger equals no tour interest by much of the public, serious reduction of money to tour pros, serious reduction to the network's revenue (and their commentators - listen up Miller), and that is just the beginning. If the public feels they are entitled to their "pound of flesh" from Tiger then they are putting all this on the line. Believe me when I say that there are people out there who want this to happen just to see if they can! Rick Chandler and his ilk are just cheerleaders for the people who like to create drama and unrest. When it comes to sports, "Those who can - do. Those who can't - criticize.".
You people seem to believe Tiger is a GOd. Quite the contrary. He is still an arrogant little brat of a kid. He got beat up by his wife, rightly so, and deserves every minute of embarrassment and negative publicity he gets.
I for one watch more golf now and will continue to until Tiger returns. He is not a role model for my children nor should he be for any children. He is the epitomy of what this country has become.........arrogant and greedy.
Spitted in a cup? Is this a problem in golf?
Terry Wood Tiger is the present day "God of Golf" like it or not. If you are not a role model for your kids then that is your problem not Tiger's. Dont try to escape from your responsibilities to your children. You sound like a pretencious golf fan. Tiger is the ultimate competitor with the passion and skills for the game that you only see in great athletes. It's your perogative if you want to settle for mediocrity and teach that to your kids. When people of color show excellence and passion in sports and because of their excellence and passion they make alot of money somehow they are portrayed as being "arrogant and greedy". I am dissappointed in our progress. Oh by the way Tiger will always be a role model for my kids when it comes to how to play the game of golf period.
Why hasn't anybody mentioned Tiger's "Ambien" use? As a former Ambien user who suddenly had all kinds of impulse control issues, including agressive and inappropriate sexual advances which were completely uncharacteristic for me, I think this factor should definitely be considered. After taking the drug I sometimes partially remembered events that I had been involved in that completely disgusted and sickened me. For the first time in my life I experienced marital problems, legal problems, and mental health problems. Tiger needs psychological treatment for post-ambien psychosis, not sex addiction therapy. People need to read the side-effects list before venturing on this roller coaster ride from hell, because they may never be able to regain the respect they lost with the world.
Tiger doesn't owe me or anyone except his wife and family an explanation. You must be one of those people who read crap like the National Inquirer and think it's news.
Terry you started your blog by writing "you people". I wonder just who you were referring to. Could you be more specific?
Tiger needs to embrace his inner black man and go to the next PGA golf event with 7 hot white babes on his arm. Everyone is telling him to chill. Why should he?! His marriage is a shambles. Why should he hold back now of all times? Cuz he wants his wifey to stay? Everyone knows she's on the next bus outta here as soon as she is eligible for half a billion black dollars! For the kids? That is no reason to stay in a failed marriage. Just ask Dr. Phil. So you go, Tiger!! Embrace your real self, and to h _ _ _ with what all the puritans say.
I have yet to read a single comment that describes this situation so allow me to set the bar. Before this exploding cantelope hit the air ways, Mr. Woods was admired for his performance on and off the course. His championships, foundation work, charity work, and family man image all clicked for him and he carefully polished it for the media. Following this incident, which has exposed the true character of the man off the course, he may well continue to attract accolades for his skills on the links (assuming he continues to win), but his carefully crafted image off the course is gone...perhaps for good.
Josephi- where do you get off thinking that Tiger owes any obe of us an explanation of his private lfe. He he chooses to share his "tails of sex" with us, that is his decision alone. No of our buisness, just like I owe none of you any details of my "interesting" life???? Go find a different venue to spout your puritanical blubbery.
So much anger in the underlining of the masses in regard to who's "right and wrong". No one owes anyone an explanation about anything anymore!! Go figure.
What laws did he break? What occurred is between him and his family he owes no one any explaination other than his family. Let he who has not sin cast the first stone. I take it you are sinless?
I think everyone has a different opinion based on what Tiger means to them and that is why it takes on a professional or personal tone. Myself, I believe he owes us nothing. Just a healthy return to the sport that HE has made so popular to the millions who would otherwise never have taken up the game or considered watching it on TV.
He is the reason why sponsership money is so high. I also believe there will be no problem filling the gaps of sponsors that jumped ship. As for his place in the history books. You can bet good money he will be there with all the greats. No steriod use, no gambling, no on the course temper tantrums, etc... He's only 33 and look at his acheivements. What will they be by the time he hits the senior tour? WOW!!!
JUDGE NOT LEAST YE BE JUDGED!
I went on the Ambien website and found no mention of sexual aggression side effects. However, I then typed in "Ambien and sexual side effects' on google and found hundreds of posts by people in all walks of life who have experienced this just as Laura mentions in her post. These posts were made prior to Tiger's exploits coming to light. I certainly think Tiger needs to be treated for Ambien addiction. I think Ambien needs to come clean about this particularly pervasive side effect. I think when the side effects of a pill can destroy your life it should be listed on the SIDE EFFECTS!!!
flash harry - I would never diminish Woods' accomplishments but in fact he has yet to surpass Jack Nicklaus' on course records and certainly Jack's golf course design business is one of the finest examples of an athlete using his expertise after his playing days are over. Let's leave Jack out of it eh?
As far as I can see it, he has cheated on his wife-it is their personal battle and has absolutely nothing to do with the game of golf. It is unfortunate that people put people in such high and unrealistic platforms, and I'm sure Tiger did not set out to be the poster child for golf, or did he aspire to be a role model, I mean he is a person, he has issues, he's just a richer version of you and me ...he simply wanted to be the best at golf, which is what he attained-as for the rest, well frankly it's none of our business....I would expect nothing less from a person in his standing....
